 | Abstract |
- Objectives:
- To characterize major infectious diseases burdens in migrants in Europe from surveillance data and their impact on Public Health;
- To identify systematic deficits of official surveillance and reporting systems for migrant groups with respect to important infectious diseases;
- To provide better instruments for an improved assessment of the migration status to address more effective public health.
- Activity 1: Review of major infectious diseases burdens on the health of migrant populations in six European countries using:
- Official national and international health information registries;
- Additional epidemiological data.
- Activity 2: Review of the different methodologies used:
- Comparison of assessment of the migration status in infectious diseases reporting systems between different European countries;
- Review of various infectious diseases with Public Health relevance.
- Activity 3: Infectious disease data analysis and evaluation:
- Disease-specific comparison of different European countries;
- Analysis and evaluation of infectious disease mortality and morbidity statistics including their societal and economical impact;
- Critical evaluation of the deficits in the assessment of migration status in European infectious disease surveillance systems in the light of differing structures of these systems between the various member states.
